Mr. Gaga: Documentary Film Screening

See this award-winning documentary film about iconic Israeli choreographer Ohad Naharin, former artistic director of Batsheva Dance Company (Tel Aviv) and creator of the movement practice known as “Gaga.”

An eight-year collaboration between Israeli choreographer Ohad Naharin and filmmaker Tomer Heymann led to this exuberant feast for the senses. It illuminates the creative process of a bold artist known as a prickly taskmaster, charismatic genius, and icon of modern dance. Documentary Audience Award winner at the SXSW Film & Music Festival.

This event is part of NCCAkron‘s multi-day Dancing Lab, Dance as Cultural Diplomat, which explores the influence of Israeli dance on American choreography and asks: how does national identity inform dancemaking? A full list of programs is available here: nccakron.org/diplomacy

Dance as Cultural Diplomat is timed to coincide with NCCAkron Founding Partner DANCECleveland’s presentation of Jerusalem-based Vertigo Dance Company להקת מחול ורטיגו on Saturday, March 9 at the Ohio Theatre in Cleveland.
