Join us for the the dual launch of Birds of Paradise, by choreographer Pioneer Winter, and a new installation from the Myers School of Art.

Two new exhibits are opening at the Cummings Center for the History of Psychology!

Birds of Paradise is a video series of dance-based queer solo portraits on themes of agency, survival, and transformation. Created by Miami-based choreographer and dance artist Pioneer Winter, this exhibit honors and celebrates the enduring nature of queer and marginalized people to shape themselves into something that is desirable, vulnerable, fierce, and reborn. Winter’s work has been brought to Akron by the National Center for Choreography at UA, which is currently hosting Winter for a technical residency.

Dumpster Dive is an exhibit created by students enrolled in the Art Installation course at Myers School of Art. This exhibit envelopes the Cummings Center atrium with a variety of nontraditional sculptures reminiscent of everyday encounters.

PARKING INFO

Free parking is available in the lot directly adjacent to the building. This lot contains a dedicated accessible parking spot near the museum entrance.

Free parking is also available in Lot 30 at the corner of College and Market streets, which contains several accessible parking spaces.

Metered parking is available along South College Street. Pavement from Lot 30 and metered parking may be uneven, and people with limited mobility should exercise caution.
