Out of Silence

Presented by The University of Akron School of Dance, Theatre, and Arts Administration at Guzzetta Hall - University of Akron, Akron OH

May 02 - 11 2019
Out of Silence

The University of Akron’s School of Dance, Theatre, and Arts Administration and New World Performance Lab proudly present Out of Silence: Abortion Stories from the 1 in 3 Campaign. The production is part of a national project which is attempting to educate youth and young adults about the issues surrounding abortion in order to educate and stimulate new dialogue. Performances will be held on the UA campus in Sandefur Theatre, Guzzetta Hall, on May 2, 3, 4 at 7:30pm, May 5 at 2pm and at Balch Street Theatre, 220 South Balch Street, in Akron on May 10, 11 at 8pm. These performances will feature talk-backs with the audience in which everyone will be welcome to share their point of view in a community forum. This series of vignettes, written by women, featuring UA student actors, and directed by Jamie Hale, Rosilyn Jentner and Debora Totti, all long-time members of NWPL, challenges the divisive partisan rhetoric associated with the topic of abortion.
