Samuel Salsbury: North Indian Sarangi

Ohio Regional Music Arts and Cultural Outreach (ORMACO) presents Akron-based musician Samuel Salsbury in a special Indian classical music concert and talk. Samuel will play the sarangi, a rarely heard bowed string instrument of North India.

The program will include music selections from North India, to which Samuel has devoted intensive study since 2014. Using an instrument that is 125 years old, he will present a portion of a classical raga, an original song he wrote for a friend, and a bhajan (devotional songs). Samuel will also speak about the instrument, Hindustani music and a few of his experiences as he immersed himself in this rich and deeply spiritual culture.

This is an online event on the Medina County District Library Facdbook page.
