Join NCCAkron on Thursday, March 18 for our first Virtual Dance Club of 2021! This month’s edition of Virtual Dance Club is curated by contemporary ballet choreographers Amy Seiwert and Ben Needham-Wood.

Join NCCAkron on Thursday, March 18 for our first Virtual Dance Club of 2021!

Based on our in-person Dance Club that occurred in 2018, we’ve brought our social experiment for dance audiences to the virtual space. Participants watch dance together and engage in an informal discussion afterwards.

This month’s edition of Virtual Dance Club is curated by Amy Seiwert and Ben Needham-Wood of Amy Seiwert’s Imagery.

In their curation, Amy and Ben set up a series of opposites — stage versus film, myth versus reality, and their own different approaches to narrative work.

Amy and Ben say: “Organizationally, Imagery is all about exploding preconceptions of what ballet is and what ballet can be. For that, we constantly question. By looking at opposites, or even perceived opposites, we can dig deeper into those questions.”

This event will be hosted by NCCAkron Graduate Assistant DeMarcus Akeem Suggs.
