VISUAL ART PREVIEW PARTY & SILENT AUCTION

On Friday, April 29, the Miller South Art Booster Club will host a community party to celebrate the creative work of the art students at Miller South (7-10 p.m.). The event is open to the public and offers a preview of the annual art show, held at Akrona Galleries at 1765 W. Market St. in Akron. Art students in grades 4-8 audition to attend Miller South School for the Visual and Performing Arts and receive art instruction at an accelerated level on a daily basis. The artwork on display will showcase a collection of work that is beyond the skill level of most students of the same age and also includes art that has won local, regional and national art awards during this school year.

Tickets to this adult-only fundraising event are $25/person; the event includes hor'devours, desserts and two drink tickets. Beverages will be generously provided by R. Shea Brewing and Aqueduct Brewing; and wine, coffee and non-alcoholic beverages will also be provided. There will be a Silent Auction where guests will bid on the chance to win a variety of items, including original artwork by local artists, handmade jewelry and furniture, tickets and certificates to local community events and establishments, and more. All proceeds will go toward providing art supplies and equipment for Miller South visual art students, as well as providing Artists in Residence as guests of the program.
