Women's History Project - Woman of the Year Award Event

The Women’s History Project of the Akron Area, a program of the Summit County Historical Society, will honor nine local activists with its 2022 Woman of the Year Awards.

2022 Woman of the Year Announcement
Society President and CEO Leianne Neff Heppner explained, “The Women’s History Project is honored to recognize these women, who through their selfless work, paid and volunteer, supply an essential need…hope.” In the words of Mother Theresa, “Hope sees the invisible, feels the intangible and achieves the impossible.” Leianne added.

– Darlene Anderson-Katz of the Dare to Love More (DLM) Food and Resources
– Regina King and Denise Brandon of West Akron Track
– Virginia Wojno- Forney , preservation activist working with many different organizations
– Kathy Meyer of Peace Together Choir and hospice nurse
– Julia Perry , great albeit forgotten composer of classical music
– Lisa Mansfield of Summit County Probate Court and many other organizations
– Ellen McWilliams-Woods of Akron Public Schools
– Janis Worley of Ronald McDonald House of NEO and other organizations.

ADMISSION INFO

Tickets are $25 per person. This will be a lawn event so please dress for the weather. Limited seats under the tent will be available. Light refreshments will be served by A Taste of Fine Dining to include mini sandwiches, vegetables and dessert.
