Yatra - A Journey Towards Peace

Sanjib Bhattacharya is Akron Soul Train’s artist-in-residence, trained in traditional Indian dance.

Sanjib Bhattacharya is an artist-in-residence at Akron Soul Train.  He is trained in Manipuri and Contemporary Indian dance.  In 2006, Bhattacharya’s work was recognized with the highest national award for performing arts by India’s President A.B.J. Abdul Kalam.  He immigrated to Cleveland in 2018 after traveling and performing all over the world.

Bhattacharya used his residency to collaborate with Robin VanLear, Founder and Director of the Cleveland Museum of Art’s Parade the Circle festival and celebrated liturgical singer, Edna Duffy.  “Yatra” will combine Indian dance, colorful costume and song as you are led on a journey through struggles, connecting with adaptation, and finally peace and love.
