Unbox Akron was created by Chris Horne, publisher of the Devil Strip – an arts, entertainment, and culture newspaper – as a subscription box that celebrates the products, businesses, and events that make Akron unique. In March of 2015, Unbox Akron won a Knight Cities Challenge grant. Shortly after receiving the good news from the Knight Foundation, Chris recruited long time friend, Roger Riddle to help curate each month’s box.
