Saxophonist, Executive Producer at Cleveland Time Records and bandleader for the jazz fusion group Matthew Alec and The Soul Electric.

As a saxophonist, Matthew specializes in jazz, funk, and fusion and has been performing for over 20 years. He has toured nationally and has opened for a number of national acts including Earth, Wind, and Fire, Incubus, Robert Randolph and The Family Band, Keane, Average White Band, Lupe Fiasco, OAR, and many others. He has performed with Victor Wooten, Roy ‘Futureman’ Wooten, Steve Turre, Billy Beck, and he has recorded with Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductee Bernie Worrell and former Saturday Night Live Musical Director Tom ‘Bones’ Malone. He holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Music from Kent State University.

His debut album as a leader “Cleveland Time” (featuring Tom ‘Bones’ Malone) dropped in 2021 and charted for several weeks on the NACC Jazz Radio Charts (peaking at #13) and garnered international press features from Jazziz Magazine, JazzMonthly.com, All About Jazz, Broadway World, WBSS Media (UK), SoulTracks.com, and many others.

In 2020, he started the nonprofit label Cleveland Time Records which is dedicated to bringing the world jazz from the CLE.
