Detention is a high-energy band of teens from Akron, Ohio. The band gives explosive live performances and locks into heavy pulsing grooves and shredding solos. They performed at the world-famous Whisky a Go Go in LA and had crowd-surfing fans as they won the 24th Annual Tri-C High School Rock Off at the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame. Barry Gabel, Senior VP for Live Nation said: “The band was tight, fun, exciting, and had the audience going crazy!” about their winning performance.

Detention includes bassist Fritz Dannemiller (17), drummer Luke Konopka (14), lead singer Elliott Carter (16), and guitarist Evans Cox (13). Detention’s music is a mash-up of its collective influences, which range from Foo Fighters to Twenty One Pilots, Green Day and Ani DiFranco. The result is part teenage angst and humor and part life growing up in the post-industrial Midwest.

Detention missed a few gigs due to the pandemic such as the postponed SXSW Music Festival in Austin, Texas,  Devo Devotional, Lock 3, and PorchRokr. They have played virtual events such as the Montauk Music Festival, CouchRokr, The Rialto Theater, and Record Store Day. Detention is often heard on WAPS 91.3 The Summit and rocked a sold-out live performance for a Studio C Session. They were featured on WKYC Channel 3 News and ESPN Cleveland. ESPN’s Tony Rizzo heard their version of “Helter Skelter” and wouldn’t stop talking about “these kids from Akron”.

Detention has new music/videos that were recorded during quarantine.
