I have had an interest in painting in watercolor most of my adult life.  I’ve taken classes and workshops from some of the finest watercolor instructors both locally and nationally.  My interest in painting was reinforced by visiting some of the finest museums in the world including The Van Gogh in Amsterdam, Musee d’Orsay, Paris, Monet At Giverny, MoMa NYC, and the Cleveland Museum of Art.

Since retiring, I have improved as a painter from a technical standpoint which has lead to greater creativity.  Being able to draw well is necessary to do a successful watercolor.  Equally important are good composition and applying values correctly.  Good drawing, composition and value make for a great painting.  Notice I did not mention color since it’s not nearly as important as the other three.

My goal is to paint in a ‘loose’ style which can be achieved if my mindset is first and only centered in that direction.

I am a member of the Hudson Society of Artists.  Also, the Ohio Watercolor Society accepted one of my paintings in the 2020 OWS annual show.  I have won a number of awards in local shows.
