ABOUT THE PLAY
Following the story of a nameless Youth who is on a quest to find “the real,” this middle-class, African-American young man discovers what a bohemian life really involves by “passing” through the worlds of sex, drugs, and Rock ‘n’ Roll. With soulful lyrics and soaring, heart-pounding music, this musical is a unique experience that breaks theatrical boundaries, crosses musical genres, and ultimately brings the audience home with a new understanding of personal and creative authenticity.

PREPARATION
Please prepare TWO short contrasting songs (32 bars of each song) and ONE contemporary monologue. Please bring sheet music in your key. You may sing a Capella; however actors are strongly advised to bring music to the song they wish to perform. Audition material should not exceed 5 minutes. Songs must be in the style of the show (contemporary pop, hard rock, folk rock, rock opera). PLEASE DO NOT SING SONGS FROM THE SHOW. Finally, please bring three copies of your headshot and resume (stapled together) to your audition time.

COMPENSATION
All actors receive compensation for their work in our productions. Equity members appear under a GA Tier 2 contract. Non-Equity actors receive a modest stipend.
