Project Intent

The history and significance of Barberton’s contribution to the citizens of Barberton, Summit County and beyond will be reflected in the mural that will represent significant areas of Barberton’s history and the uniqueness of the Barberton community.  The vision of this project is for a signature art work of exceptional quality and enduring value located in a prominent public community space that will enhance the downtown and serve as a reflection of Barberton’s overwhelming impact.  The history will be reflected as “postcards” that will span the time frame from Barberton’s Founding in 1891 – present.
All entries must demonstrate artistic excellence and adhere to the following:
• Enhance the wall and compliment the current murals in place
• Each postcard motif must highlight the importance of Barberton and represent one of the following themes:
• Transportation
• Industry
• Founding History
• Chicken
• Entertainment
• Nature
• Social Clubs
• Sports
• Be an original piece of art appropriate for outdoor installation
