The Akron Art Museum is first and foremost a museum whose mission is to enrich lives through modern and contemporary art. The full-time Development Officer, Grants position oversees, implements and provides support for various efforts pertaining to institutional fundraising. These activities include (but are not limited to) grant writing, grant calendar management, donor/prospect research, and more generating operational and programming revenue. Position reports directly to Director of Advancement and works collaboratively implementing museum development strategy and tactics attaining financial goals set by Museum Executive Director and Board of Trustees.

KEY DUTIES include responsibility for

  • Develop and submit grants to government agencies, private and corporate foundations
  • Manage Grants Calendar
  • Uses financial reporting
  • Research institutional donor prospects
  • Develop proposals, reports, budgets required with institutional grant requests and as needed by Executive Director, CFO, Board of Trustees and Director of Advancement

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

Bachelor’s degree in appropriate field and a minimum of 4-year’s professional experience in Grant Writing, Communications, English, Public Relations or related field. Focus on arts and culture preferred.
