Executive Director of the Ohio Alliance for Arts Education
The Board of Directors of the Ohio Alliance for Arts Education is currently accepting applications for the position of Executive Director. The Ohio Alliance for Arts Education board offers a competitive salary and benefits including healthcare, annual travel allotment and paid parking. The successful candidate must be able to pass a criminal background check, have reliable transportation and insurance and be bondable.

 

The Board is specifically seeking a person who has the following required experiences and abilities:

Dynamic professional with proven record for strategic vision and leadership, credibility and respect from others in the arts and arts education fields.
Successful record of fund-raising, development and creating opportunities for additional earned income.
Experience in statewide organizational growth, advancement, marketing, and advocacy.
Advanced degree in the arts and/or arts administration or an equivalent in administration, organizational leadership and policy
Experience with working with statewide partners and agencies, national organizations, higher education and arts’ organization leadership.
Strong communication, relationship building and interpersonal skills .
Successful experience working with volunteer boards, committees and Board leadership groups.
Ability to analyze educational and political climate, forecast and propose strategies and/or activities that promote the Ohio Alliance for Arts Education, its members and partners.
Ability to recognize, promote and inspire unique program initiatives
 

REPORTS TO:                       

Board of Directors

 

WORK WEEK:                      

Full-Time with the primary time allocations for work in the field statewide and regionally, with OAAE partners (OAC, ODE, OhioEdTA, OhioDance, OMEA, OAEA, VSA-Ohio and state education organizations), as well as staff and financial management of the organization.

 

SALARY:                             

Competitive, payable in bi-monthly installments of the fifteenth and last day of each month.

 

BENEFITS:                     

Outside of the listing in the Ohio Alliance for Arts Education Handbook for days off, this position includes health care, travel stipend and parking pass.

 

OVERALL PURPOSE OF THE JOB:

To lead, manage and grow the organization, promote its members, programs and initiatives, foster its mission and ensure that the Ohio Alliance for Arts Education is continuously recognized as the statewide visionary authority in respect to:

 

Advocacy for arts education issues.
Engaging and connecting with all strata of the arts education community to advocate for such issues.
Quality, standards-based professional development for arts education professional development.
The delivery of member services that inform and engage all constituents within the arts education community.
 

To achieve these goals the executive director will:

Provide strong, visible leadership to members and the public on arts education matters.
Manage the financial viability of the organization including fundraising and grant acquisition.
Support and provide advice to the Board of Directors on matters of strategic direction.
Focus work as it relates to the Strategic Plan.
Uphold the values of the organization.
 

MAJOR ACCOUNTABILITIES:

To implement the Board of Directors’ Strategic Plan.
Develop a long-term vision and short-term goals that mesh with the strategic plan in partnership with the Board.
Ensure the strategic plan is aligned and implemented within the context of a long-range planning cycle inclusive of emergent strategies and priorities.
Growth and diversification of funding sources to support the organization.
Support and provide advice to the Board and its sub-committees on strategic matters.
Ensure the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual reports as required for programs, finances, staffing, etc.
Recognize and advise the Board on emergent trends, risks, and stakeholder implications that could impact the organization.
 

MANAGEMENT:

Ensure that the organization remains financially viable through sound cash flow forecasting, budget preparation, and monitoring.
Provide a detailed financial report to exec comm board monthly, quarter to board members and annually to membership at annual meeting.
Ensure that the organization’s outcomes are achieved in a cost-effective manner.

Operations Director, full time
Research and Information Coordinator, part time
Community Programs Manager, part time
Administrative Assistant, part time
 

Contracted Services

Legislative/ODE liaison, part time- March –December
Legislative and Research information- part time, quarterly reporting

Ensure that all resources are deployed on activities, tasks, and projects which align with the bylaws, mission, goals, and strategic plan of the organization.
