Join artist and energy healer Rhonda Wheatley for a conversation about wellness amid the isolation, anxiety, and uncertainty many are facing due to the coronavirus pandemic. Wheatley will talk about how artists might rethink productivity, as many attempt to maintain a sense of “business as usual” when things are anything but usual. In addition, Wheatley will lead a consideration of how this challenging period is highlighting changes artists might implement after the world settles into whatever new normal is emerging. Wheatley will close the workshop with a relaxing and grounding guided meditation and leave artists with wellness practices they may use on their own after the workshop.

Rhonda Wheatley is a Chicago-based multidisciplinary artist whose sculptures, installations, and interactive performances are grounded in the speculative and metaphysical. As part of her practice, Wheatley also facilitates wellness workshops, through which she seeks to cultivate healing and personal transformation. Wheatley’s recent projects include group shows at DePaul Art Museum and Art League of Houston; solo shows at Hyde Park Art Center (HPAC) and Aurora Public Art; an In Progress series performance at the Museum of Contemporary Art, Chicago; and workshops at The University of Chicago, 3Arts, Chicago Artists Coalition (CAC), and 6018North. She received CAC’s inaugural Coney Family Award and a 3Arts ‘Make a Wave’ Grant and teaches at Indiana University Purdue, Indianapolis and HPAC. Wheatley practices multiple energy healing modalities and enjoys giving tarot/oracle readings.
