The 20th Annual Standing Rock International Shorts Festival

Open to all filmmakers and videographers worldwide with original work.

We are seeking films/videos that are 15 MINUTES IN LENGTH OR LESS

Nov. 30 First deadline
Dec. 31 Final deadline

Traditional approaches as well as experimental or unconventional entries are welcome. We look for Originality, Technical Skill, and Cultural Relevance as a way of screening our entries.

ABOUT THE COMPETITION:

The competition takes place in the 1st part of the festival, among shorts that are screened from around the world. There are two awards.

1. Juried Choice
2. People’s Choice

Criteria for Judging

3. Cultural Relevance

Juried Choice Award is a framed certificate announcing Best of Show among the jurors.

People’s Choice Award is $200 U.S. Cash award. The audience is given a ballot and votes for a favorite at intermission. Ballots are counted and winner is announced at the end of the night. The winner of the People’s Choice award is also invited to be the featured artist for next year’s festival.

ENTRY FEE

The nonrefundable $10 entry fee for Ohio Residents & $15 for non-Ohio Residents is for each film or video submitted by November 30th.

Submissions from December 1st through December 31st will be a nonrefundable $15 entry fee for Ohio Residents & $20 for non-Ohio Residents for each film or video submitted.

Films must be 15 minutes or less in duration including credits.

Up to two films are allowed per individual/group.

There are no restrictions on whether your film has been online or screened by other film festivals.

Standing Rock Cultural Arts retains the right to refuse any submission without refunds.

Standing Rock Cultural Arts assumes the right to use stills from accepted films in promotional materials. Any images used will be credited to the video artist or filmmaker that made it.
