Profile: Reporting to the Operations Service Manager, Park Manager or other designated supervisor, provides skilled mechanical and electrical work required for the maintenance and repair of park vehicles and equipment. Duties are diversified, and require an intensive knowledge of mechanical/electrical repair procedures, and the use of judgment when analyzing facts and diagnosing problems.

Qualifications: High School graduate or GED required. Specialized training in automotive repairs. Minimum of (3) years’ experience in the automotive mechanic field, or related trade. Ability to read and interpret technical manuals and owner’s manuals. Knowledge in vehicle maintenance, as well as demonstrated mechanical ability. Ability to operate all equipment and vehicles in the Metro Parks fleet. Knowledge and skills as an automotive mechanic, with the ability to use the tools of the trade. Knowledge of mathematics and the ability to use math in simple and complex calculations. Ability to exercise good judgement. State of Ohio driver’s license with clear driving record required. Ability to obtain CDL Class A license within 1 year. Ability to obtain ASE certification within 1 year. First Aid and CPR certification required.

Conditions of Employment: Internal transfers must successfully complete a 30-day probationary period per Article 15, Section 2, of the 2014-2017 agreement between Summit Metro Parks and Ohio Council 8 & Local 1229 of the AFSCME, AFL-CIO.
