The Empty Bowl to benefit Family Promise of Summit County

Presented by Woodridge High School - Visual & Theater Arts at Woodridge High School Auditeria

Woodridge Local Schools is partnering with Family Promise of Summit County to present The Empty Bowl Fundraiser to benefit the organization.  They invite the community to join them February 3, 2017, from 5:30-7:30pm at Woodridge High School.  Family Promise of Summit County is an emergency center for homeless families with children in need.  Many shelters separate children from their parents during a homeless crisis. Family Promise is unique because their mission is to minimize the trauma to children during a homeless event by keeping families together during a time of homelessness.

This is the third year of the event. Woodridge High School Ceramics students will be making more than 100 pieces of custom pottery including mugs, bowls, and platters, using various clay building techniques.  The FCCLA will be preparing a gourmet meal of soup, salad, bread, and desserts.  The Woodridge Middle and High School Interact Club will be our hosts for the evening will be educating students in grades K-12 about homelessness to prepare for the event. This year, the students wish to involve more local artists and businesses to share in making a difference in the community.  There will be a silent auction as well. If you are interested in contributing art work or a basket for the auction please contact cbenson@woodridge.k12.oh.us or drop off items to the Woodridge High School main office.

“Our students are very excited to have the opportunity to impact our community by teaching about homelessness and providing much needed funds that will directly impact families in Summit County. It is fantastic to see what happens when young artists, chefs and leaders come together in creativity to support such a wonderful organization such as Family Promise,” said Ms. Benson, the Ceramics Instructor at Woodridge High School.
