David Lang's Little Match Girl Passion

Presented by University of Akron School of Music at Akron-Summit County Public Library (Main)

Featuring The University of Akron Chamber Choir, The University of Akron Dance Institute, and The University of Akron Percussion Ensemble in partnership with Akron-Canton Regional Food Bank. All proceeds go to Akron–Canton Regional Food Bank to provide food for homeless children.

Lang’s Pulitzer Prize-winning composition is based on the Hans Christian Andersen story “The Little Match Girl.” The piece presents Andersen’s tale in Lang’s characteristic post-minimalist style with thematic influence from J.S. Bach’s St. John and St. Matthew Passions.

Free Admission. Food drive donations will be accepted at the door.

Also featured will be UA Dance Institute and UA Percussion Ensemble.

Free and open to the public. A freewill offering will be taken to benefit the Akron-Canton Regional Food Bank.
