Join nearly 20 of Northeast Ohio’s finest vocalists for “Won’t Back Down,” a celebration of the life & music of Tom Petty, on Saturday, November 4, 2017 at EJ Thomas Hall in Akron, OH.

Singer-songwriter, and lead singer of Shooter Sharp & The Shootouts, Ryan Humbert, is producing the show. An all-star house band for the evening will consist of John Anthony and Erin Vaughn on guitars, Paul Lewis on bass, Ed Davis on drums, Russ Flanagan on keys, and Emily Bates on harmony vocals. Humbert will also host the show and join the house band on guitars and harmony vocals.

An all-star finale will take place, with the vocalists trading verses on some of Petty’s biggest hits.

An inductee into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame, Tom Petty is best know for his straight-forward American rock & roll sound, and such iconic hit songs as “Free Fallin’”, “Last Dance With Mary Jane”, “I Won’t Back Down”, “Running Down a Dream”, “Learning to Fly”, “American Girl” and more. Petty died unexpectedly at the age of 66 on October 2, 2017.

“I’ve been a lifelong Tom Petty fan. My first electric guitar was Rickenbacker because of Tom,” said Humbert. “His music touched every one of us, and while I’m incredibly saddened by his loss, I’m looking forward to sharing the stage with so many talented performers to pay tribute to his life and songs.”

The performance will benefit The Summit FM’s (91.3 FM Akron Canton / 90.7 FM Youngstown) Music Alive and Rock & Recovery programs. Music Alive places refurbished musical instruments in the hands of underprivileged students, while Rock & Recovery mobilizes and supports the recovery community to grow and heal together through the therapeutic power of music and messages of hope and inspiration.
