Pop-Up Exhibition featuring Nathan Prebonick

Presented by Harris Stanton Gallery at Unknown

Harris Stanton Gallery Akron is pleased to present a Pop-Up Exhibition featuring the works of Akron’s very own Nathan Prebonick! Nathan is a graduate of the University of Akron, Myers School of Art and is currently pursuing his MFA at the Rhode Island School of Design. Nathan’s work originated through the exploration of local historic sites in the Akron area while responding to the landscape in a state of transition.

Nathan’s current work experiments with time, space and visual perception. History, re-purposing, navigation and spacial perception now guide his studio practice.

Nathan describes the current direction in his work.

“I began shaping a world in terms of accumulated residues, hazy atmospheres and symbolic replacements. Now working with a flatter, more geometric language my paintings came to deal with compressed spaces, like relief sculptures. Forms appear to function tectonically and topographically, shifting, stacking and interlocking. In these paintings I employ forms evocative of sensations; projecting, receding, sliding, to give visual form to a mental decision making process. These mental and physical landscapes represent cross sections of time, or compressed experiences. They explore how ways of seeing relate to ways of thinking, challenging the viewer to establish a sense of place in a shifting world; a place in both space and time.”

Join us for an opening reception on Thursday, June 7th, from 5:30-8PM at our Akron Gallery location at 2301 W. Market Street. Nathan Prebonick’s Pop-Up exhibition will be on view through Saturday, June 30th.
