Researching Your Immigrant Ancestors 1820-1892

Immigration records changed a great deal between the “Act to Regulate Passenger Ships and Vessels,” which took effect in 1820, and the opening of Ellis Island in 1892. Focusing on European arrivals to the eastern seaboard, this genealogy class by the Library’s Special Collections Division will discuss historic background as well as sources and strategies commonly used in researching immigrants during this era.

This class meets in Computer Lab 2, First Floor, Main Library.

Registration required. To register, please call or email the Special Collections Division.
