Joyce Yang (Concert)

Presented by Tuesday Musical Association at EJ Thomas Performing Arts Hall - University of Akron

South Korean pianist Joyce Yang is captivating audiences around the world with “vivid and beautiful playing” (New York Times) and “wondrous sense of color” (San Francisco Classical Voice).

She recently received her first Grammy nomination for Franck, Kurtág, Previn & Schumann, recorded with longtime duet partner Augustin Hadelich (he’s the violinist who brought Tuesday Musical’s audience to its feet multiple times last March).

Ms. Yang is a Steinway Artist, Van Cliburn International Piano Competition silver medalist (that year’s youngest performer) and Avery Fisher Career Grant recipient.

This program features preludes by Rachmaninoff, Leos Janacek’s Piano Sonata 1.X.1905, Liszt’s Rhapsodie Espagnole and Sonata in b minor, and a piano sonata by Elizabeth Younan.
