Highland Square Neighborhood Association was awarded a Knight Arts Challenge grant to make an Akron Film Festival happen in our neighborhood! We are so excited to host this event at our very own, Highland Theatre!

Like New York is to Scorsese or Rome is to Fellini, Akron is to you. Setting is a crucial part of storytelling and we want to see your Akron tales. Whether you use the city in a staring role or as a supporting character, tell us your story. Shows us our city. The Highland Square Film Festival is looking for films of five minutes or less to be considered for a one night event on September 29th from 2-6pm. 

If you are not a film maker, no problem! The fest is free to attend and we encourage you to come join us for the programming!

We have invited local film makers/enthusiasts to head up a panel discussion from 2-3pm lead by a special guest speaker!

Programming will be from 3:30-5:30pm with an award ceremony that directly follows with over $1,000 in cash prizes for the 1st and 2nd place winners! We will also have an Audience Choice Award for the crowds favorite film!

Submissions are due September 1st by midnight. You can submit by sending us a YouTube link to highlandsquarefilmfest@gmail.com and pay the $20 submission fee through our PayPal link!
