Free Art Integration Workshops for Educators

Presented by Tuesday Musical Association at The Lippman School

Tuesday Musical and the Kennedy Center Partners in Education program are offering three free arts-integration workshops for educators in October and January.

October 4 – Bash the Trash (for educators in grades K-6). Led by Kennedy Center teaching artist, environmentalist and composer John Bertles, participants will build musical instruments made from recycled and reused materials and learn how to use those instruments to make connections to science and literacy.

October 25 – Building Reading Comprehension through Sound and Rhythm (for educators in grades 1-5). Kennedy Center teaching artist Imani Gonzalez will guide participants through a process to help their students create Soundscapes. The aim is to help students develop listening skills through collaboration, build interpretation and oral presentation skills through communication, and improve reading fluency through creativity.

January 24 – TWO PARTS – Cut Paper: A Pathway to Writing and Making it Stick: Memory Comprehension through Abstract Art (for educators in grades 2-8). It will be led by Kennedy Center teaching artist Jamin Carter.

Free and open to all educators, the workshops are 4:30 to 7:30 p.m. at The Lippman School, 750 White Pond Drive, Akron.

No musical background is needed, but pre-registration is required. Click here for more information and to register.
