Charisse Mae Harris

Through her autobiographical miniature sculptures, Harris “aims to explore the evolution and complexities of soul food in black culture.” She is a mixed media artist exploring issues regarding identify, black culture, faith and female representation. Born and raised in Akron, Charisse recently graduated from Kent State University with an MFA and is now a professor at Columbus Community College and Capital University.

Joshua Eiskamp

Eiskamp’s current body of work is inspired by observations, drawings, and photographs of areas around Akron. These pieces urge the viewer to look more closely at the nuances of the surface, to move freely amongst the suggested cityscape as they could in person. Throughout the process of creating his work, Eiskamp is intentionally meditative and immersive, through the use of layered charcoal, graphite, and acrylic paint glaze, he embeds this into his paintings. He has worked in the arts and as an artist for several years in the Cleveland area.
