Building a Career with an Art Degree - Brett Binford Artist Talk

Join the Kent State University School of Art for an artist talk with ceramicist and entrepreneur, Brett Binford on Friday, January 25 from 12-1 p.m.  Brett will be discussing how he built successful small businesses and a contemporary ceramics gallery in Portland with an art degree. All lectures are free and open to the public and are located in room 165 at the Center for the Visual Arts.  Brett Binford is the owner and co-Founder of Mudshark Studios, Portland Growler Company, and Eutectic Gallery.

In 2012 Mudshark studios was selected by Martha Stewart as one of 10 companies chosen for the American Made Awards. In 2015, they were honored by President Barack Obama During his visit to Portland for small business week. They currently employ 30 employees and continue to bring American ceramic manufacturing back to the USA.

Binford also operates Portland Growler Company, which has been published and written about in countless magazines and blogs including Notcot, Uncrate, GQ, and Martha Stewart Living. They currently distribute growlers internationally and continue to lead the industry in growler design and sales.

Additionally, Binford owns and operates Eutectic Gallery, a contemporary ceramic gallery in Portland, Oregon. Eutectic is recognized internationally by collectors and shows a range of contemporary artists from emerging to world class ceramic artists.
