Kent Creativity Festival

The 2019 Kent Creativity Festival will be held on Sat., Sept. 28 from 11 a.m. until 5 p.m. This FREE event draws nearly 3,000 annually and provides an opportunity for people of all ages and skill levels to come together to create, share and explore the making of all forms of art. The festival takes place at Kent State University on the Lester A. Lefton Esplanade between S. Lincoln St. and downtown Kent, Ohio.  It is a collective effort by the City of Kent and Kent State University College of the Arts, in  partnership with the National Endowment for the Arts and the Ohio Arts Council.

A few examples of past interactive activities include:

Creative Story Telling: participate in creative story telling in words and action complete with props and costumes. Poetry: write and illustrate your own poem. Unity Project: participate in a communal woven art sculpture based on identity. Printmaking: Create your own screened print. Music: Conduct an orchestra! Architecture: create and build with giant blocks.

Local sponsors include the Burbick Foundation, Record Courier, McDonald’s, Metis Construction Services, Portage Community Bank, AxessPointe Community Health Centers, Hometown Bank, and the KSU College of Public Health and the KSU College of Architecture & Environmental Design.
