Full of tips and Techniques on 2nd &4th Wednesday Evenings 7-9pm
Will include tips and techniques to improve upon your drawing detail and animations! Take your first steps to becoming the artist you want to be. Learn the basic principles that apply to all visual art and be able to explore any medium in the future. Adults & Beginners are all welcome to learn and gain an understanding of the fundamentals of art.
All supplies provided. Please bring a still life object for inspiration. If you do not have anything we will provide objects at the shop!

About the Instructor
Andrew Kennedy is a geek who loves all things nerdy that is only trumped by art. Following his interests in computers, cartoons, and animation he has developed a varied skill set through formal education and self teaching that includes illustration, photography, animation, computer modeling, and graphic design. After he completing his bachelors from Kent State University in 2008, he began working as a graphic designer. Over the years he found himself helping others on occasion in their artistic endeavors by sharing his knowledge and loved seeing them improve. Now as an instructor for RCP, he is excited to share his knowledge and help others on a regular basis.

June
12 – Contrast
Do you struggle adding a bit of flair to your art or struggle with sharing your message visually? Perhaps you need more contrast in your work. Contrast is the key to making visual art appealing and it can occur in many different ways. After this class you will be able to make your images “pop”!

10 – Composition
Visual art isn’t just putting some color on a canvas and calling it a day. Just like other crafts such as music, writing, and many more visual art has many different elements that create an artwork. You will get an introduction to all the elements of composition and learn how they can work together. By the end you will be on your way to effectively using all the elements of composition.
24 – Pen / Monotone
Creating art with a pen and ink or single unchanging color can be difficult task. It all comes down to technique and understanding value. Creating monotone art can be fun and freeing once you know the techniques. Come let your mind relax and explore creativity with the monotone art.
Aug
14 – Symmetry
Do you know what symmetry is? What if I told you that it is a bit more complicated than you think? In this 2 hour course we will explore symmetry in visual art and how we can use it to make more our art visually interesting.
28 – Light
As visual artists light is the thing we rely on to make our work interesting. Light gives us our values and shadows but what you may not realize is that it has properties of its own. In this class we will explore what light is and its properties so we can create more believable images with their own light source.
