Ohio Collage Society 10th Annual Exhibit

Ohio Collage Society 10th Annual Exhibit

Presented by Zeber-Martell Gallery & Clay Studio at Zeber-Martell Gallery & Clay Studio

Collage is considered the only “new fine art medium” of the 20th century.  Although Pablo Picasso added pasted elements into some early paintings in spring 1912, it was Georges Braque who initiated the “pasted paper revolution” in autumn 1912 in the studio he shared with Picasso. Collage then entered into the realm of fine art of the future.

Collage continues to be a dynamic and diverse contemporary art form a century later in 2016. This exhibit demonstrates the materials, imagery; colors, and often the altered reality that Picasso and Braque explored 100 years ago.  Collage artists construct a world made from the accumulation of the modern age for us to consider in art. Enjoy!

The Ohio Collage Society (OCS) seeks to promote and appreciate the techniques of collage in Ohio by mounting exhibits of members’ work and meeting to create and collaborate on collage. We were founded in 2007 by Gretchen Bierbaum, as an affiliate of the National Collage Society (NCS) founded in 1982.

The OCS wishes to thank Art Walls at 43 Furnace Street, Stewart Freedman, and Michael Martell for hosting our annual Members’ show.
