Guitarist Jason Vieaux, the first classical musician to be featured on NPR’s “Tiny Desk” series, is joining violinist Adam Barnett-Hart to open Tuesday Musical’s 2019-20 MainStage season on Tuesday, Sept. 24, 7:30 p.m., at EJ Thomas Performing Arts Hall in Akron.

The duo program includes selections from Jacques Ibert’s Histoires and Manuel de Falla’s Siete Canciones Populares Españolas, Handel’s Violin Sonata in D Major, J.S. Bach’s Fuga from Violin Sonata No. 1 in G Minor BWV 101, Barbara Kolb’s Umbrian Colors, Ysaÿe’s Sonata No. 5, Op. 27 for solo violin, and Piazzolla’s L’histoire du Tango.

Audience members can get to know Vieaux and Barnett-Hart during the Concert Conversation at 6:30 p.m. in EJ’s Flying Balcony Club. Accessible by elevator, the Flying Balcony Club features lounge seating and libations.

Gramophone has placed Jason Vieaux “among the elite of today\’s classical guitarists” (Gramophone). His most recent solo album, Play, won the 2015 Grammy Award for Best Classical Instrumental-Solo.

American violinist Adam Barnett-Hart is the founding first violinist of the Escher String Quartet, which has performed in many of the most prestigious venues and festivals around the world including Alice Tully Hall and the 92nd Street Y in New York City, the Kennedy Center, the Ravinia and Caramoor Festivals, the Wigmore Hall, the Louvre, and the Concertgebouw.
