Les Délices Presents Epic Fantasies

Les Délices Presents Epic Fantasies

Presented by Hudson Library & Historical Society at Hudson Library and Historical Society

Baroque ensemble Les Délices returns to the Hudson Library & Historical Society stage on Wednesday, March 25 at 7 pm for Epic Fantasies. This new program, created for the Hudson Library & Historical Society, will combine readings from poems and literary works with evocative sonatas and instrumental fantasies by François Couperin, Jean-Féry Rebel and others. Excerpts from d’Urfée’s romantic epic l’Astrée, Homer’s Odyssey and Ovid’s Metamorphoses will transport listeners to an enchanted island, the sculptor Pigmalion’s studio and the resplendent world of the Baroque theater.

Acclaimed by The New York Times for “concerts and recordings [that] are journeys of discovery,” early music ensemble Les Délices (pronounced Lay day-lease) explores the dramatic potential and emotional resonance of long-forgotten music. Founded by baroque oboist Debra Nagy in 2009, Les Délices has established a reputation for their unique programs that are “thematically concise, richly expressive, and featuring composers few people have heard of.”
