In Akron, we believe that public art provides meaning to our public spaces, reflects the history of a city, adds uniqueness to neighborhoods, and humanizes our environment.

Join ArtsNow and Designing Local for a professional development training opportunity for visual artists interested in the City of Akron’s proposed Plan for Public Art.

Public Art, for the purposes of municipal plans for public art, refers to visual art that utilizes public resources or exists on public land. Visual artists interested in learning more about the proposed plan for public art the City of Akron is looking to adopt.

Designing Local is a leading cultural planning firm and has completed over 20 Public Art Master Plans for cities across the country. Designing Local focuses on developing strong policy and governance structures for their clients as well as developing strong public engagement programs for the planning processes to ensure broad representation from the many voices that make up communities.
