"FEAST" - Ballet Film to be shown at Akron Soul Train

Presented by Akron Soul Train at Akron Soul Train

Performance collective, Creative Destruction, includes two dancers, Christina Lindhout and Kelly Korfhage and artist Corrie Slawson. Together, they envisioned “FEAST,” a ballet that combines art and dance to present narratives about economic theories, environmental degradation, and wealth distribution. Creative Destruction explores the complexities of an economy through the interaction between dancers and objects. Dancers produce a story by interacting with tables filled with art and sculpture, each representing a different economic commodity: Sugar, Coffee, Bananas, Oil, Timber, and Beef. The combination of body movement and visual artistry are sumptuous, powerful, and surprising.

In conjunction with SPACES Art Gallery and the Andy Warhol Foundation, Akron Soul Train helped produce “FEAST” by supporting the choreographers Lindhout and Korfhage with a residency. The 32-minute ballet film will run on loop in the Akron Soul Train Capsoul gallery, alongside broken and unbroken art props (designed and made by Corrie Slawson) used in the production November 25- December 23. An opening reception will take place at Akron Soul Train Gallery, downtown Akron, Saturday, December 5 at 11am-6pm.
