RELEASE Music Video “Green Blues” in celebration of Valentine’s Day

Presented by Maira Vianna Music at Online/Virtual Space

Cleveland, OH—Maíra Vianna, acclaimed singer-songwriter and local student at the  Cuyahoga Community College (Tri-C) music program, is scheduled to release a new music video just in time for Valentine’s Day.

“Green Blues” is her first release since being named a winner of the prestigious Berklee College of Music’s Art of Music Production 2020 contest, in which Vianna competed with thousands of budding songwriters worldwide. Her song “In My Own Defense,” infused with the energetic rhythms of the Brazilian Afoxé style, placed in the top ten.

“Green Blues” is a departure from Vianna’s previous style and is “the product of a Brazilian musician trying to write a blues—the bossa nova keeps trying to sneak in,” says the artist. And the style isn’t the only thing that was different this time around.

Written in the early days of the pandemic, the production of “Green Blues” was faced with many of the challenges all of us are now familiar with. While Ms. Vianna was able to record her vocals at the fully equipped Tri-C recording studios, her ensemble, comprised of professors within the music program, had to be recorded separately in their homes to maintain social distancing. The complete track was then assembled in the home of fellow Tri-C student, Dylan Powell.

The result is an intimate fusion of Brazilian popular music and the blues, starting out as a ballad with soft Brazilian rhythms which give way to a guitar solo and Rhodes piano improvisation.

Set to be released before Valentine’s Day, the lyrics speak about being open to the experience of new love, which Vianna relates to her own experience with embracing a new culture here in Cleveland.

Born in Minas Gerais, Brazil, into a family of musicians (her mother and two aunts play samba), Vianna was a professional swimmer and physical therapist before deciding to pursue her lifelong passion of writing and producing her own music. This brought her to Cuyahoga Community College (Tri-C) via its partnership with the Berklee College of Music, with a full-tuition scholarship courtesy of the Gill and Tommy LiPuma Endowment Fund, and even with a global pandemic Vianna is thrilled to be living her dream. Says the artist, “My video is the way that I found of saying that Cleveland is alive and full of music! We stay strong dreaming and producing art, with a lot of love to share, even during a pandemic.”

While “Green Blues” can already be heard on most major music platforms, the music video is set to be released next Friday, February 12th at 11:30 am EST on the artist’s YouTube Channel. Maíra Vianna is also set to perform at the International Music Cultural Café celebration of International Women’s Day on March 8th.
