Growing Pains: Anika Calcei Senior Exhibition

Growing Pains: Anika Calcei Senior Exhibition

Presented by Cummings Center for the History of Psychology at The University of Akron and Mary Schiller Myers School of Art: The University of Akron at Cummings Center for the History of Psychology at The University of Akron

Growing Pains is a multimedia observation of the simultaneous presence of grief and nostalgia that come with the loss of childhood– whether it be people, objects, or memories–that part with us as time moves forward, becoming unreachable. These unreachable entities shift like waves that rarely hold a permanence in the forefront of our minds, but that also intricately lace themselves in our lives. Bringing attention to these moments interwoven with our deepest memories is a way to acknowledge and accept these ever-changing lives we lead, filled with grief and pain and joy and love.

The University of Akron Covid-19 regulations permit a max of 10 people per gathering. In order to observe this capacity, guests may RSVP to reserve 30 minute time slots to attend this event via timed ticketing. If max capacity in the gallery has been reached, you will be asked to wait until visitors leave the space. For everyone’s safety, we ask for your patience and understanding.

This exhibition will run from Friday April 23 through Thursday, August 12, 2021. After its dedicated opening, guests may view the exhibition during the Cummings Center’s current limited hours: Tuesdays 11am – 4pm & Thursdays 11am – 8pm
