Salt Water Etching

Salt Water Etching

Presented by Peninsula Art Academy at Online/Virtual Space

Salt water etching is a safe way to create texture in your pieces and can very easily attract enough attention to stand alone in metalsmithing work. This is a simple and fast etching method (also known as electrolytic etching) without pollution or poisonous chemicals. Only water and salt, and energy!
Kristina will take students through the process of creating a pendant from start to finish and will include information on resists for etching and how to apply (multiple types), the etching process itself and connecting to your power source, clean-up, along with information on creating a safe place to etch in your home studio.
Basic metalsmithing skills are required and students should have a basic smithing studio area in which to work with ventilation.
