Join North Akron Community Development Corporation in envisioning Temple Square as an arts and innovation business district. On Saturday, June 5 from 2 to 8 p.m. NACDC will celebrate its public spaces, launch new initiatives, and welcome community members to learn about its work in promoting economic development, cultivating creative placemaking, and building social cohesion in North Hill.

CELEBRATE PUBLIC SPACE
Explore our public spaces for activities that encourage thoughtful interaction and creative vision. Exchange House will be open for touring the Airbnb experiences and a timeline of community building in North Hill. Market House will have takeaway crafts for both adults and kids and maker-space membership sign ups. People’s Park will feature live bands, a dance class, and special guests onstage, and a large hang out area to eat, talk, or chill. NoHi Pop-Up will sell cuisine from Jump on Board for Success (JOBS) which provides teen and young mothers with the needed resources to gain and maintain employment. NoTique will offer makers and artisans homemade goods and products for sale.

LAUNCH NEW INITIATIVES
After a long season of renovations, People’s Park (formerly known as the Backyard) reopens with permanent structures, new seating areas, and a full event calendar. There will be several points of interaction for community members to participate in envisioning what they want to see in Temple Square. NoHi will launch beverage sales with a variety of local coffee and tea options, opening the lounge area for limited in-house seating. Bereka Coffee Company will facilitate a coffee ceremony to honor and welcome the beverages to the space.

North Akron CDC celebrates its work by re-introducing the organization to the community as a multifaceted nonprofit at the intersection of social, civic, and cultural fabrics of Akron. We will reflect on where we’ve been, review where we are now, and envision where we’re going. Our membership campaign will launch with tiers of benefits participants can use all year round.
