Outdoor Glassblowing Demonstrations and Neighborhood Social
June 5, July 3, and August 7, 2021 from 10 am to 3 pm
Check out the Hot Glass Jam at Akron Glass Works this summer. Watch free glassblowing demonstrations, meet some local businesses and organizations, even make a glass flower during this safe, family friendly community event!
Each month will feature outdoor glassblowing demonstrations on the Akron Glass Works loading dock with socially distanced seating in the parking lot. There will also be displays by Neighborhood Network, The Well CDC, Gardening 101 with Barb, and Elizabeth’s Bookshop & Writing Centre for visitors to learn about gardening, home repair, creative writing, and more. Food and drinks will be available to purchase. The event can be moved into The Sanctuary at Akron Glass Works in the case of rain.
Akron Glass Works is a hot glass studio and gallery in the Middlebury/University Park neighborhood of Akron where local artists make original glass bowls, vases, ornaments, jewelry, custom lighting and much more. The studio also offers glassblowing workshops to the public with no experience needed.
Free and open to the public
During the Hot Glass Jam, participants will have an opportunity to make a glass flower for a discounted price of $25 per person. Spaces are limited on a first come first served basis.
