Craft Workshop: Symbolism of Dia de los Muertos (Day of the Dead)

Presented by Standing Rock Cultural Arts at Standing Rock Cultural Arts

Join Standing Rock Cultural Arts on Saturday, October 30th, 2021 at 2:00 – 3:30 PM for our Craft Workshop: Symbolism of Dia de los Muertos (Day of the Dead).

Attendees will be creating an ofrenda: a home altar with a collection of objects placed on a ritual display during the annual and traditionally Mexican Día de Muertos celebration. The objects involved will incorporate the six most common symbols found on Mexican altars for November 1st and 2nd, All Saints Day and All Souls Day; both holidays comprising Dia de los Muertos. Construct clay sugar skulls, cut paper banners, and collage a mini-altar.

The workshop will be instructed by Heidi Horvath, art teacher for Rootstown Elementary School.

All ages are encouraged to signup. Children 12 and under must be accompanied by an adult.

Workshop cost is $10 per student. All materials will be provided.

To sign up email info@standingrock.net or call 330-673-4970.
