Myers Forum Lecture
Centered upon themes of the crossroads, Coleman composes spaces activated as prayers for guidance, conscious statements of intent, and thanksgiving.
Coleman’s work explores memory, observation, and imagination in layered narratives of personal and cultural history. Coleman works in a sculptural format that integrates the dramatic presentation of a stage set with the oral tradition of storytelling. He selects materials such as old-growth wood, stone, and beeswax that function as witnesses of people that came before us.
