Flow can be described as the water flowing in a stream, or how the wind shapes the desert sand every day. I also think of these things when I hear the word, but I tend to think of how my artist brain works. Flow to me is painting something and adding in subconscious painting at the same time. I take an idea and let, either oil paints or pastel, push its way into my canvas. 15 years ago I sat in front of an illustration board and had no clue what I was going to create. I started the pastel piece and let it take shape in front of me without thinking of the outcome. When the piece was finished I was amazed of what I created, and my definition of Flow was born. In this series I based all of my work around that first painting. Starting with a simple idea and building upon it as I painted, so each piece is born from the last work completed to create an ever flowing rhythm from idea to idea. I want the viewer to look into the painting and feel the art flow around them and to draw them in.
