Oak Native American Collection Curator Tours

Join Curator Fran Ugalde on Friday, September 30th for a behind-the-scenes tour of the Oak Native American Ethnographic Collection, including exclusive entry into the temperature-controlled storage housing the objects not currently on display to the public. Attendees will learn about how the private collection of Jim and Vanita Oelschlager came to The University of Akron, what it offers in terms of vast geographic representation of diverse Indigenous Nations, and some of the research questions that are currently being explored.

Two 60 minute tours will be held on September 30th, from 12:00pm-1:00pm and from 3:00pm-4:00pm. Limited spaces available, please RSVP via Eventbrite.

This event is part of the North American First Peoples Day event series organized by the Portage Path Collaborative.

Free parking is available in the lot directly adjacent to the building. This lot contains a dedicated accessible parking spot near the museum entrance.

Free parking is also available in Lot 30 at the corner of College and Market streets, which contains several accessible parking spaces.

Metered parking is available along South College Street. Pavement from Lot 30 and metered parking may be uneven, and people with limited mobility should exercise caution.
