Holidays on the Hill

Presented by Summit County Historical Society at Summit County Historical Society

The Society’s historic properties will be open for tours on Wednesdays, Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays from 1 – 4 p.m. with the last tour starting at 3:30 p.m. On Saturday, December 3rd, the houses will be open from 2-4 p.m. for free as part of the agency’s Free Community Open House with Santa. On Saturdays, December 10 and 17, tours by appointment are also available at 11:00 a.m. by signing up on EventBrite.

Guided tours of both the Perkins Stone Mansion, the home of Akron and Summit County’s founding family, and the John Brown House, the rented home of the famed abolitionist, feature holiday tradtions celebrated throughout the region that connect NEOhio to the world. Thank you to Society Board Director Deb Loughborough for loaning a collection of African American Santas and decorations. The City of Akron has shared vintage displays from the Polsky and O’Neil’s windows through the creativity and connection of staff member Jeanne Tassiello-Jordan.

The Society is closed the week of Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day.
