New year, new acts!
On Thursday, January 26th, grab some friends and hop on down to Jilly’s Music Room where Wandering Aesthetics will host another addition of the “anything goes” open mic, better known as the Electric Pressure Cooker Cabaret.

ABOUT THE EVENT:
Considered by some, “the most EPIC open mic,” they’ve ever attended, the Akron Summit Convention & Visitors Bureau’s Zenith AWARD-WINNING Electric Pressure Cooker Cabaret is a dynamic showcase featuring artistic talent (musicians, theatre artists, dancers, improvisers, standup comedians, and many more…) and “ANYTHING GOES” fun. The #EPCooker “happens” around the greater Akron area.

Through humble beginnings in the basement of a Highland Square flower shop, the #EPCooker is an artist-driven event that sees over 50+ audience members, 20+ performers, and 4 non-stop hours of art.
Doors open and sign-ups for performers begin around 7:00 pm with performances starting around 7:30 pm. ANYONE may sign up for an open mic slot.
An emcee, stage, lighting, and sound system (with operators) are provided. The environment is like no other open mic in the region!
ALL varieties of acts are encouraged to perform. Previous acts have included: monologues, acoustic musicians, comedians, feats of strength, play readings, full rock bands, debates, experimental art, puppeteers, dancers, scenes from plays, improvisation, devised work, storytelling, and performance artists. But the sky is the limit; no art is too taboo for the #EPCooker!
ALL levels – from beginner to the most experienced – are encouraged to perform. Those under 18 are permitted to attend (and perform!) with adult supervision.
The #EPCooker is not just an open mic. It is an open and welcoming community of artists and advocates. It is also a great networking event, a great place to improve stage presence and a great place to develop as an artist. From comedians to performance artists and even full bands, many wonderful performers have premiered at the #EPCooker.
