Creating Legacies: Black, Male, & Trans in Ohio

This student led conversation is integrated as class project of the Sociology of Sex, Gender and Sexuality class (Department of Sociology). It features award-winning educator, activist, community organizer and artist LuSter P. Singleton from Columbus, OH.

LuSter P. Singleton is one of the 2022 National Trans Visibility March TORCH Award for Leadership in Community. He was also a featured speaker at the march itself. LuSter is the program manager for MOZAIC, Ohio’s first standalone transgender and gender non-conforming testing site and community center. Mozaic now, operates as an ‘inside out community center and is one of the cornerstones of Equitas Health’s Gender Affirming Care Department.

This event is part of The University of Akron’s Rethinking Race event series, a two-week forum of events focused on facilitating “courageous conversations designed to promote inclusive excellence” regarding race and race-related issues.
