Community Class With Paige Barnett Kulbeth Of Dance Heginbotham

Community Class With Paige Barnett Kulbeth Of Dance Heginbotham

Presented by The National Center for Choreography at the University of Akron at Guzzetta Hall - University of Akron

Join Dance Heginbotham company dancer Paige Barnett Kulbeth in a 2-hour modern/contemporary class that celebrates the joy and happiness of dance.

Pulling from her background in ballet, modern, and floorwork techniques, Paige will guide movers through athletic combinations while emphasizing moments for ease. The class will begin with a full-body warmup on the floor, transition to center combinations, and end with a special choreographic treat from Dance Heginbotham’s repertoire. If Paige were to describe herself as a performer/instructor in 3 words? Silly, dramatic, and detailed. This will be an intermediate/advanced level class, although all are welcome to join!

About the Artist

Paige Barnett Kulbeth (Lafayette, LA / New York, NY) is a dancer and artist with a Chemical Engineering degree which has never been used from University of Louisiana (2017). After college, she began creating dance installations at her local art gallery, Basin Arts, and was soon commissioned to direct the rework of NYC artist Tina Girouard’s Mardi Gras Suites and Quartets (1974/2018). This piqued a new interest in 1970s postmodernist art of New York and she impulsively moved to Brooklyn. Once there, Paige immediately began dancing with John Heginbotham’s company, Dance Heginbotham. She has happily since been with the company; performing with musicians from Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra, The Knights NYC, and jazz guru Ethan Iverson. Notable performance venues include Jacob’s Pillow, San Diego Music Society Festival, Scottsdale Arts, The Ringling Museum, and Bryant Park. Paige has also danced for Karole Armitage in the Marc Jacobs Spring 2020 fashion show and is currently cast as Birdie in Isaac Mizrahi’s annual production of Peter and The Wolf, held at the Guggenheim Museum. When not dancing, she is always in development of her own choreographic works, experimental art events, and movement-based video art. vpbarnett.com
