"Suffered as Women Do" Student Curator's Tour

Explore women’s experiences in early asylums and state hospitals through this free, student curator-led tour of the exhibit “Suffered as Women Do:” Gender and Treatment in U.S. Asylums. The University of Akron student Lacy Nicholas will guide attendees through the ways in which gender has played a role in our mental health history, from diagnoses to treatment to life inside an institution.

Limited space is available for this tour and registration is required.

Parking Info

Free parking is available in the lot directly adjacent to the building. This lot contains a dedicated accessible parking spot near the museum entrance.

Free parking is also available in Lot 30 at the corner of College and Market streets, which contains several accessible parking spaces.

Metered parking is available along South College Street. Pavement from Lot 30 and metered parking may be uneven, and people with limited mobility should exercise caution.
